Questions
Did you apply for many graduate roles or schemes? (if so, how many)
The CCR scheme was the first place I turned when applying for graduate jobs. All together I had applied for approximately 5 roles, with my current employer being my second interview whilst being a graduate.
What were your thoughts/feelings around applying for roles/schemes during a pandemic?
I was really nervous that I wasn’t going to be able to secure any full time work and I imagined having to settle for part time work until more opportunities were available to graduates.
What attracted you to the CCR graduate scheme?
I was first attracted to the CCR scheme when I had a meeting with a career’s advisor in the third year of my undergraduate degree. After researching the scheme and discussing the opportunities more with my advisor from the CCR, it was clear that there were opportunities for graduates. I feel that this scheme definitely helped me gain confidence when job hunting and made me believe in myself more.
How was your experience applying for the CCR graduate scheme during the pandemic?
Initially I had applied for the scheme just to test the waters of job hunting and I didn’t in a million year dream that I would be attending 3 graduate interviews in one week, let alone in a global pandemic.
What are you hoping to achieve during your time on the scheme?
What I really want to achieve during the scheme is an opportunity to prove my work ethic and commitment to development. I have always been passionate about improving myself and this scheme has opened many doors. In the space of three weeks, I have secured a great job with amazing opportunities, and I have found an employer who values the work and determination of graduates.
Is there anything you would say to others thinking of applying for the scheme?
If there is one piece of advice I would give to people considering the scheme I would say GO FOR IT! The worst thing that could possibly happen is that you gain experience of the application and interview process, even if you don’t succeed in finding a role that suits you. The team have been a blessing and they understand the difficulties facing graduates and truly want to find you a suitable role.
One sentence to sum up your CCR graduate scheme experience…
The CCR graduate scheme has taught me to believe in myself, to be determined and to stand up for what I believe.
One word that sums up your CCR graduate scheme experience…
Exciting.
