Graduate FAQ's

What degree do I need to apply for the scheme?

All degree backgrounds are welcome unless specially requested by the employer. The match between the graduate and the job role will be about the transferable knowledge and skills you have to offer the business

Is the scheme only for recent graduates?

No, as long as you meet the requirement for the specific job, you are eligible to apply.

There will be a wide-range of internship positions depending on the needs of businesses – this could range from a digital marketing role in a business of 10 employees to project management in a company of 200 employees.

Will there be more Venture Graduate Scheme cohorts after this?

Yes, there will be 3 Cohorts per year.

Do I need to provide evidence of my right to work in the UK?

Yes, all applicants will be asked for documentation confirming their right to work at the assessment centre. Offers of employment cannot be made without this. For more information see gov.uk/legal-right-to-work-in-the-uk

What provision is made for candidates with disabilities?

Since the jobs are based at various sites in the region, any issues with access are described in the job adverts. We work with employers to make reasonable adjustments for jobs and encourage you to disclose any disabilities on your application form. Please contact us if you have any specific questions.

Do you accept applications in Welsh?

While we encourage use of the Welsh language on the scheme where possible, we can only accept applications in Welsh if the employer specifies this on the job description.

What is an ILM Qualification?

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) is an International Awarding Body whose qualifications are recognised internationally. We have listened to employers and recognise that Leadership and Management are essential skills for our Venture Graduates to develop. We have teamed up with the University of South Wales to deliver the Level 3 ILM qualification in Leadership and Management. Venture Graduates will also be registered with ILM for the duration of their course (up to 12 months).

The qualification is delivered virtually by USW

What happens if I am unsuccessful, can I apply for other jobs?

If you are not successful in a role, you most definitely can apply for another role. We work with many employers, who will all have different requirements, and we would encourage you to apply for another position. If you need further support or wish to discuss this further, please contact us.
