Rise & Shine in Torfaen

Recruiting Talent & Improving Skills in South East Wales

The pathway to growing your business and recruiting talent can be confusing and difficult to navigate—and that’s why Venture is here, to help you hire the people and improve the skills you need in your enterprise, for future success.

Come along to our informative ‘Rise & Shine’ Business Breakfast session at the Springboard Innovation Centre in Torfaen – and we’ll explain how we can help you attract, hire and develop talent you need, at zero cost.

It’s your chance to be introduced to local funding opportunities for your business whilst learning more about how to recruit and improve the skills of your current worker-base – while enjoying:

  • Insightful talks from a number of experts, and an informal networking opportunity with fellow businesses
  • Face-to-face chats with funding partners and a representative from Welsh government
  • Delicious coffee and breakfast!

Expert Advice, Practical Support & Funding Opportunities.

Venture’s Graduate Development Officer, Geraldine O’Sullivan, will open the talks with a presentation on the Graduate Recruitment & Development programme.

‘Our recruitment programme is bespoke—we always begin by making sure we understand the needs of the employers we are working with,’ says Geraldine. ‘At the Rise and Shine in Torfaen Event, we’ll introduce you to our work and show you examples of how we’ve helped businesses attract the right employees. Of course, how we help you specifically will depend on your business’s specific needs—but this event enables us to engage with you, to show you that there is a wealth of untapped skill in the graduate workforce of Southeast Wales waiting to be discovered.’

Following the Cardiff Capital Region’s discussion on Digital & Green Skills Support, there will be highly engaging presentations given by public sector organisations with their roots in the Torfaen area, as well as from a number of apprenticeship schemes who are delivering region-wide impact:

Torfaen Economy and Enterprise will discuss specialist support for all businesses regardless of their current status—whether they are just starting up, already well-established, or relocating into Torfaen.

Torfaen Employability and Skills will cover specifics around recruitment assistance, supported wage schemes and in-work support, as well as funded training.

Aspire will delve into the details around the Shared Apprenticeship Programme in Manufacturing and Engineering.

Y Prentis will share information about its Shared Apprenticeship Scheme in Construction.

Learning, Growing & Succeeding, Together.

“Identifying business opportunities in Torfaen and developing the skills of our region’s workforce are top priorities for strengthening our local economy,” says Paul M Roberts, Business Engagement Development Officer at Torfaen County Borough Council. “I encourage all businesses in and around Torfaen to attend Venture’s Rise and Shine business breakfast—so we can learn, grow, and evolve together as a region.”
