About “Women in Innovation”

Since 2016, Innovate UK’s ‘Women in Innovation’ campaign has shone a spotlight on the pioneering female entrepreneurs who have set out to tackle some of the biggest societal, economic and environmental challenges we face – from climate change to cleaner transport and better healthcare – creating a collaborative community of female role models, sharing knowledge and encouraging entrepreneurial growth for women throughout the UK.

The programme supports women at a critical stage in their businesses, enabling them to take an important step forward and make a real difference to innovation in the UK and beyond. Diversity in business is a proven driver of economic growth and increasing the number of women starting and scaling innovative businesses in the UK will unlock huge economic and societal benefits.

Why we are investing in this programme

We are proud to be one of the first co-funders of Innovate UK in a scheme that reinforces our ambition to ensure innovation is recognised as one of the primary drivers of economic growth.

Given the creativity, initiative and entrepreneurial spirit shown by women of all ages and in all communities across the Cardiff Capital Region, we believe there’s huge potential to grow the South East Wales female representation at these prestigious awards – investing funds as a regional partner of Innovation UK: looking to back the ambition and vision of female entrepreneurs with an outstanding innovation project.
